The English Shop has landed in Bonn!

Today is a great day for Britain, as one of her outposts has opened doors in the lovely town of Bonn on the beautiful river Rhine. Yes, the English Shop, already present right in the heart of Cologne as well as on the internet, has opened up a branch in Germany's former capital.

Seriously though, we've planned to do this for years now, and even though several times we came very close to opening a shop here, it was only this year that a real opportunity arose, and we decided to grab it! So after just a few weeks, using a "thorough preparation meets improvised chaos" approach, we are happy to finally say Guten Tag Bonn!

So if you live in the area, make sure you drop by next time you are near Sternstr. 71 at the upper end of Friedensplatz to say hello to our cheerful and dedicated crew - they are looking forward to meeting you!

For pictures of the shop and our opening day, visit our facebook page!

London Olympics 2012

London 2012

We have only 3 days left until on August 12th, the Summer Olympics, aka London 2012, will end! This year’s Olympic Games is the second highlight for London this year, after the Jubilee, and a major highlight for everyone else all over the world! Naturally we are super-excited about being involved in it too, even if just remotely, from here in Cologne, Germany. The English Shop team is celebrating, supporting, cheering and following (thanks to 26 BBC channels) just as much as if we would, had we been in London!
And more than just supporting, we still have a good range of various Olympics memorabilia available on sale – we have chocolate Wenlocks from Cadburys, Gold Medals for everyone, mugs and chocolate Heroes in a tin bus – all things not just delicious and edible, but also valuable collectibles for the future!
You can find all these products here
And for a short limited time we also have a very special offer on Bulmers cider - a case of 12 bottles is now reduced to 32,99 only!!!
Meanwhile in London there’s more than just the Games, the city itself is all dressed up and decorated for this Summer. We’ve gathered a few of the sights, so you can also get an impression.
In July 2005, when the winner hosting city was announced, preparations began. This was perceived not only as being a major sporting event but also a hugely significant cultural happening. The UK has already hosted the Olympics twice before, in 1908 and 1948. The 2012 Olympics were a very close tie between Paris and London, but with the majority of a few votes, London won! Opening and closing ceremonies include artists like Sir Paul McCartney and the reunited Spice Girls who will perform especially for the occasion, in front of an audience of millions! Over 10,000 athletes are expected to participate in the Games itself.
If you can’t be there yourself, but want a souvenir – we have carefully selected some of the nicest designs and products, which you can find online at our shop at the link above. And meanwhile, here are a few impressions of London itself, and how it has prepared for the Olympics.

Welcome to our new Shop!

England and Germany both have survived the first round of the Euro 2012 without incident - we're celebrating that with our new shop! You'll find that all the products and functions of the old shop are still here, but in a contemporary design. We will gradually add more functions to the website, and we will use this space to notify you about significant additions to our product range and post facts we find are useful to know about food and drinks from the British Isles.

We hope you'll enjoy our new shop, and we are looking forward to your feedback!

Sincerely, your English Shop team
