For the best results follow these simple instructions How to Make Perfect Dumplings Empty the contents into a mixing bowl. Add 75ml (5tbsp) of cold water. Mix together firmly with a fork. Divide the mixture into 6 large dumplings or 8 small dumplings and form into balls with floured fingers. Add the dumplings into stews, casseroles or gravy which is simmering and continue to cook for 20-30 minutes. For crustier dumplings bake in the stew in an oven uncovered. Handy Hint Try adding 2 teaspoons of coarse grain mustard and a teaspoon of thyme.
