How to Make Perfect Chip-Shop Batter:

Empty the contents into a mixing bowl. Add 280ml (1/2 pint) of cold water and whisk until a smooth batter is formed. Dry fish, chicken or vegetables and lightly dust with flour. Dip in the batter to coat fully. Deep fry in hot fat or oil 170C/350F until golden. Drain on kitchen paper before serving. Tasty Tips Try coating slices of banana or pineapple and deep frying. Serve with a scattering of cinnamon sugar and vanilla ice-cream.
